Taking some time to get intimate with songwriting. We haven't seen each other much lately and we miss each other a lot. You'll be seeing me wandering around Canadian Music Week in Toronto. Stop in to one of my showcases! Thursday March 22 9pm, Dakota Tavern, and Saturday March 24 8pm, Piper's Lounge. I'm also really looking forward to heading to Montreal after that. It will be great to catch up with my awesome sister Megan Lane and her better half, super student and poet extraordinaire, Taylor Leedhal. It'll also be a blast to play some music while I'm there! In the meantime, it's just me, my brain and an acoustic : )

We have had a fantastic fall! Thanks to OSAC in Regina for a great Showcasing Opportunity. It was a pleasure to meet so many folks who have such a deep appreciation for the arts and to see just how many communities in Saskatchewan are helping the arts thrive here.
The WCMA's in Whitehorse were a blast! It was a fantastic experience to be in the beautiful North and to see so much great live music. I'd like to thank SaskMusic, Bob Hunka, SOCAN, NBC, CBS and all the supervisors who came out to El Cid, for a successful Export Mission in Los Angeles this November. I could not have imagined a better introduction to California.
Thanks to The Sherle Gallery in Regina Beach for hosting a very intimate and memorable concert this weekend! Don't forget to check out Songs for the Cure at the Broadway theatre this November 26th, with performances by many great Saskatoon talents! All proceeds to Cancer research.

Huge thanks to Mark Von Eshcen and everyone who came out to Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan for a successful show! It was truly a treat to play on that stage on that set. Prairie Scene was absolutely amazing. It was a treat to get to experience Ottawa and take in the beautiful city. The people at Prairie Scene and the people of Ottawa were warm, welcoming and expressed a love and desire to experience different art and culture. Chris Dearlove, Heather Moore and Laura Denker were a pleasure to work with and were a million percent involved in this festival! I was also honored to meet the honorable Linda Haverstock and Michaelle Jean. We met so many wonderful people at Prairie Scene and were happily overwhelmed by the response. It's an amazing effort to put a festival like this together and everyone we met, including our techs, were highly involved and passionate about their part in the production. Prairie Scene treated us very well and we are truly grateful for it! Unexpectedly, I went to Prairie Scene and got a huge dose of my own culture and it made me love the prairies even more. Thank you Ottawa, for an amazing experience! We will be talking about it for years to come!
April 22nd, 2011
It's time to hit the road again! I am jumping in the van with my sister, Megan Lane and husband John aka smokekiller for a mini tour to the Prairie Scene Festival in Ottawa! We have stops in Regina at the Fainting Goat, Winnipeg at the Toad in The Hole, and Thunder Bay at the Apollo. Then, we open for Colin James at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa! Check out the "shows" for deets!

Wow! South by Southwest, we did it again! Now that i have finally recovered, i would like to thank everyone who made the trip possible. Brad First and Brent Grulke for having us out to your wonderful festival once again. Thanks to Six Shooter Records for having us on your Outlaws and Gunslingers Showcase and for your amazing Margarita Brunch. Your quiche was the best since my Grandmas. Christine Fellows, Jenn Grant, Oh Susanna, Frazey Ford, and Kendel Carson and Chip Taylor, you were all amazing. Thanks to John Ellis who had a hell of a time getting to Austin courtesy of Air Canada and United, but got there, pedal steel and all, wearing a smile : ) Thanks to Del Cowsill and Johnny Fay for jumping on the "band wagon" and experiencing SXSW with us. And a big thanks to John Antoniuk, aka smokekiller, for all your help in getting us there, Visa's and all! Y'all are so much fun to play music with! Thank you to the Sask Arts Board, FACTOR and SOCAN for your contributions to this showcasing opportunity and to all the fans and industry who supported us. Phew!

Also, I gotta confess, there's a few good food spots I'm looking forward to visiting again. At the top of the list is Chez Nous in Austin. Its the most handsome and quaint little French restaurant I've ever been to and the food is delicious!! When I'm through filling myself with pulled pork and brisket, it's the perfect place to go to cleanse the palate.
Tomorrow it's off to spend the day with my awesome niece and nephew who are off for spring break. It's always good to get in touch with your inner child : )
February 1st, 2011
The first month of 2011 comes to a close! Life moves us along so fast. Its been an eventful January. In addition to taking on an array of "New Years Resolutions", I've been busy making preparations to go to Canadian Music Week and South By Southwest and things are coming together great! I am fortunate to have the opportunity to showcase these events with some very talented players including Kevin Kane, and John Ellis, who both played on For The Night. Johnny Fay and Del Cowsill will be the rhythm section for both shows, and let's not forget
Saskatoon's own smokekiller! (lead guitar and BG's with "jen lane" since 2003). We all had the chance to rock out together in TO at Mitzi's sister in November. Check out the Video right here on the website!
Jen Lane and Smokekiller are playing at Avocado Restaurant (2921 8th St. E) on Valentines day! Chillax, munch on some tasty snacks, have some fancy Martini's for a reasonable price and see a nice show. Now doesn't that sound better than buying ridiculously expensive roses?
Thanks to the Sask Arts Board's culture on the go program, we were able to complete a successful Cd release Tour across Canada. This project supported some great Saskatchewan Talent. I am lucky to have had Smokekiller, Enver Hampton(Volcanoless), Christian Kongawi(the Rebellion), Kyle Krysa(Megan Lane Band), Tim Vaughn and, Burke Barlow & Luckas Goetz (Deep Dark Woods) on this tour. Thank you all for playing with me! I am truly grateful!

More to come!
December 31st 2010.
I’m getting to that point in my life where I can’t believe another year has passed and yet when I think about it, so much has happened in this last year. I feel extremely lucky to have had the opportunities I’ve had this year and although this holiday season was sad this year with the passing of my mom-in-law, we were blessed with good friends and family and were surrounded and comforted by her spirit. She said her secret to a good and happy life is for family and friends to stick together. This Christmas was proof that it is these relationships that get us through the toughest moments and bring us happiness when we need it most.
I am looking forward to the year ahead! I had a wonderful time on the tour and am really happy with the new album. Steven Drake was amazing to work with and did a great job bringing the songs in my head to life. Now I’m pumped to get out there and play more! We will be showcasing at Canadian Music Week and South By Southwest in March! Weee! Can’t wait!
Check out these links to the CBC recordings that I got to be a part of this year.

Happy New Year!
We had a great tour this run, and would like to send a huge thanks to our friends and fans for their support and hospitality. To Kiron, we owe you a big one! Thanks for being awesome, and for letting us crash your house, time and time again. You rule! Big thanks, once again to the Sask Arts Board for their support throughout this project. It has been a wonderful experience. Highlights include playing at Mitzi's sister in Toronto with Del Cowsill, Kevin Kane and Johnny Fay, and doing a showcase for the SAC in Ottawa with Ken Whitely, Andy Swan, and David Bradstreet. I have met so many wonderful artists on this trip and am honored to have had the opportunity to be a part f it all.
I'm excited for my next show here in Saskatoon. Songs For Supper at the Refinery(Angie Tysseland Theatre) this Saturday December 11th. Musicians include Smokekiller, Kim Fontaine, Jay Semko, Mark Ceaser, Farideh, Catherine Lewans, Megan Nash and Sarah Farthing. Proceeds go to the Saskatoon Food bank! CBC is on board and will be out to record the show! Don't miss this!
So far the Eastern part of our tour is going great! We kicked things off at the Black Sheep Inn in Wakefield, a beautiful spot. We stayed at a great place there called the Alpengruss, where we were treated with wonderful hospitality and I ate the best German food I've had since the Days of my Great Grandmothers cooking.
Next we hit Montreal for a visit with my sister megan, who moved there not to long ago. It was great to see her and Taylor and our friends. We played a really fun show at Grumpy's, Chick Pickin' Mondays. It was a blast! We met so many warm and wonderful people. Thanks to Theressa, who saw our face book add, got a babysitter and rounded up her friends to come and see the show.
Now we are back in Toronto! Thanks to Amy Campbell for hookin' us up at Not My Dog! Its a small venue with big energy and was a really fun show.
I'm excited to play tonight at Graffiti's for Songwriters Unite in the Kensington Market. I'm also very excited for our full band show at Mitzi's Sister on Tuesday here in Toronto. The band is Kevin Kane (Grapes Of Wrath), Del Cowsill (Dustin Bentall Outfit) and Johnny Fay (Tragically Hip). YES, I said Johnny Fay! I feel very fortunate to have these opportunities, and so far I'm looking forward to getting back to everywhere we've been.
Our last show will be in Ottawa for Bluebird North Series on December 2nd! Thanks to Amanda Rheaume for getting us involved. It's hard to believe that we are nearing the end of this part of the journey.
When we get home to Saskatoon the adventure will continue at the Refinery. Don't miss Songs For Supper, a food bank fundraiser featuring myself, smokekiller, Jay Semko and Kim Fontain! We did it last year, it was a great show!!! It's also a great cause to support during the holidays! I wanna see your Saskatoonian asses in those seats! Get your tix at pic-a-tic!

Although the City was frozen it was a mighty crowd at the Broadway Theatre this Wednesday October 27th. Thanks to everyone who came out, and to the tremendous group of people who helped pull off the show. We had a great time. It's always a pleasure to play the Broadway. Thanks to Mike and Ally who kicked off the night with an acoustic Lobby Performance. These guys are so nice to listen to, and they set a great vibe for the people coming in the door. Break Our West
What a blast! This weekend was up to par with WCMA's in Moose Jaw. We had a special treat as well. We were joined by John Ellis (pedal steel) and Kevin Kane (electric) who played on the new record! Thanks to you both, it was an absolute pleasure! Thanks also to CBC for recording our show at the Habitat on Friday night. The crowd was fantastic and the Venue's inconvenient liquor license suspension seemed to bring out a younger crowd. It really turned out great! Thanks Habitat! It was fun and nice and also a comfort to head back to the Streaming Cafe on the Saturday for a showcase before Corb Lund. I love the Streaming! You should all check them out at www.streamingcafe.net . I love what they are doing, it's a great way to see live music all the time! Thanks also to Kyle Krysa, Tim Vaughn, Enver Hampton and smokekiller. Had a wicked fun time playing MuZak with you this weekend! Congrats to Nominees and Award Winners! And big thanks to all who came out to the shows!
It was a beautiful drive through the mountains this October. This tour turned out to be a lot more important than we knew. After the first show of the tour, at McNallys in Regina, we learned that my Mom in law, who had been battling lymphoma for the past 6 years had taken a turn for the worse. We postponed our Alberta shows to be with her and the family. She passed soon after with her entire family at her side. We knew she wanted us to finish the tour and her resiliency and strength was our inspiration to keep going forward. It turned out to be a great tour full of wonderful people and moments. Driving through the mountains in fall and singing my heart out every night was very therapeutic too i have to admit. Thank you to the band. John Antoniuk aka smokekiller, Enver Hampton (Volcanoless in Canada) and Christian Kongawi. Not only talented, but good people, good company and supportive friends. Thanks to Dan for trusting me to try blowing glass in your shop. So Cool! Thanks to cousin Ivan for everything, especially the Japanese BBQ in Vancouver. We had a great time at all of our shows. Special shout out to sound guy, Guy! (pronounced Gee /from the Royal in Nelson)
I look forward to heading back to Kelowna this weekend for Breakout West. We
will be at the Habitat on Friday at 9pm and the Streaming Cafe on Saturday at
10pm. We will be joined by Kevin Kane (electric guitar) and John Ellis (pedal
steel) both of whom played on the new record. I am also really excited to have
CBC recording our performance on Friday at the Habitat. Here we go again!

the album. We'll have something up in the press tab soon. Also some realle cool

Regina on Thursday September 30th. The official 1st stop on the tour with the
full band. Make sure you come out early for smokekiller on a solo acoustic
opening set. Thanks to the CBC for the great recording of the Ness Creek Show

releasing it this Fall, details will be announced very soon! We have been busy
with the first stages of planning a Cd release tour across Canada and are pumped
to get the ball rolling!
Big fat warm thanks to Ness Creek music Festival and to CBC who came out to
record our show. It was a blast as usual! The work, dedication and huge LOVE
that goes into this festival amazes me and fills my heart with warm fuzzies. We
are so lucky that someone as good as Gord owns this wonderful spot of land in
the northern boreal forest and is nice enough to share the magic of it with us
all!
